My name is Sue Phillips, and I am a lifelong Burlington resident and Certified Yoga Instructor. My connection to yoga began when I was seven years old during a school event for mothers and children. I chose yoga to do with my mom and was the only child in a room full of mothers—looking back, it feels like a sign that yoga would always be part of my life.
Years later, I rediscovered yoga at my fitness club and instantly felt at home on the mat. In 2016, while navigating the loss of several family members and a close friend, the yoga studio became my safe space. It was a place where I could set aside my grief, focus on my breathing, and find moments of peace and clarity that stayed with me long after class.
I eventually felt called to deepen my practice and enrolled in teacher training at Chrysalis Yoga Studio. I truly believe yoga is for everyone, regardless of age or ability. It is about much more than what is often depicted in the media; it is a therapeutic practice for the body, mind, and soul.
